A lovely delicate jelly which fills your palette with a rich yet sweet aromatic flavour. This is equally at home on your toast as it is on hot and cold meats.
Quince Jelly is a perfect aromatic flavoured preserve which is delicate in nature yet sweet and rich. The fruit is from a plethora of sources within Britain, mainly from people who have bushes and trees that don’t know what to do with the fruit. Like crab-apples, the quince cannot be eaten directly from the tree, but by boiling it, adding sugar and a little lemon, the humble quince becomes a beautiful addition to most foods.
This homemade artisan quince jelly is mainly used as an alternative to jam, therefore a spoonful of this makes your toast or scones taste excellent. It can also be used as an accompaniment to hot roast dinners, either on the vegetables or meats. One favourite, is to add it to plain yoghurts with fresh fruit to give a nice balanced morning breakfast.
